Interviewing

When it comes to interviewing someone it is important to remember to find a good location. It is key to ask somebody relevant questions in a familiar and comfortable place because they are more open when answering. For example, it would not make much sense to conduct a teacher's job interview at a  Macdonalds in Boston if the person promoting their resume is a recent Bridgewater State University graduate. Instead, it would be more appropriate to conduct the interview at either the high school where that person might want to teach or at Bridgewater State. Also, being well prepared with questions and a set of goals will help the process run smoothly with great tempo and progress. I know that I have more confidence doing anything when I am well prepared. When I failed to study for my math test I recieved a D, but when I read my flashcards countless amounts of time for my History speech I got an A. The atmosphere is arguably the most vital part of an interview. The person being asked all the questions must be in a sense spoiled. Where, when and how the interview is conducted is necessary to gain the most knowledgeable answers from the person.

Hanover Gems

Hanover Gems is a showcase of bowling history and the way the sport has evolved over the past hundreds of years. I had no idea of the balls and pins being put to good use in historical locations such as Ancient Egypt and Rome. Interestingly, the game was moved from an outdoor game to an indoor game in 1455 England. Also, the game was brought to America by the Dutch a little while after, resulting in the creation of the automatic pinsetter of the 1940's. The Author goes onto talk about her modern day bowling alley in full description. The "crazy"parking lot as well as the change in atmosphere that particular night (since it was time for the women's leauge) made for a really good time. Her friends Laura and Patty tell her that Thursday nights are the worst nights to go to the energetic alley because the men's competetive leauge is overly serious. "They'll kill you if you don't do well", says Laura. The location attracts various personalitites and makes for an interesting outlook on society.

Group Presentation

For our group's presentation we will be displaying Power Point Do's and Don'ts. It is important in a Power Point presentation to have the proper font and color because it helps the audience develop a strong visual understanding of what the topic is about. For example, using the same font for the title and bullets may cause the reader to have trouble understanding what is being discussed because the title does not pop out. It ends up blending in with other less important words and it does not produce a clear meaning. Also, when it comes to font, it is important to use bold letters at times for the benefit of the audience in the back of the room. A group much emphasize the importance of what works best not only for their distribution of information, but for the viewers. Color is also an important factor when it comes to working on a presentation. Using light letters (white or yellow) with a dark back round (black or regular blue) makes it easy on the reader's eyes and helps get the point across quicker.
